Sentinels Come Up Short at New Haven
|
New Haven withstood an impressive performance by Cheyenne designated hitter Mark McCord to defeat the Sentinels, 7-6, at Hartford Courant Center. McCord hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Edgar Zavala converted his 23rd save in 29 tries. The Tempest, now 60-83, have won 6 in a row.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when right fielder Bubba Hurst, who is tied for 4th in the UL in doubles with 37, reached on an error by the P. The Tempest went on to win.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hurst told the New Haven Today.
