Hullabaloo Win at Wichita, 6-3
|
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Jared Cartwright, the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo defeated the Wichita Warlocks, 6-3. Cartwright went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Hullabaloo. Phil Ross, the winner, improved to 14-4. He held the Warlocks to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. This win makes it 9 in a row for Kalamazoo.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the second, with the game tied, Jorge Jaimes was at the plate when Kalamazoo scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Hullabaloo to go in front, 1-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Cartwright told the Kalamazoo Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
