The Black Aces had to overcome a fine effort from New Haven pitcher Mike Benjamin to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Flagship Field. Benjamin went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Danny Hicks finished to wrap up his 17th save. The third-place Black Aces improved to 63-71.
Brad Lochner helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to give Lincoln a 2-0 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Lochner told the Lincoln Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
