|
Toledo Cheesepressers starter Michael Ponce was in fine form against the Savannah Pride at Haggar Pants Park, leading his team to a 7-3 win. Ponce, now 13-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Gabriel Nunez got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Savannah hurler Nick Kattenhorn, Jaden Edwards, the 15 overall pick in the 2025 draft, hit a single. The Cheesepressers went on to win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Edwards told the Toledo Observer.
The Cheesepressers sit in first place in the United League East Division with a record of 87-50.
