Tempest Fall Short, 4-3, at Savannah
|
Savannah beat New Haven at Haggar Pants Park, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Mark Mahoney, who earned player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Mahoney surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Brian Blum finished to wrap up his 40th save.
Jaden Hurst aided the Savannah cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Mahoney said.
The Wildcats move to 67-85 with the win, while the Tempest drop to 64-88.
