|
The Toledo Cheesepressers scored a 7-6 win versus the New Haven Tempest at Velveeta Field. Toledo center fielder Ray Velazquez nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Toledo reliever Jay Calicchio picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Danny Garzon was saddled with the loss. The win puts the Cheesepressers at 82-74, while the Tempest drop to 65-91.
Paul Strom was the walk-off hero for Toledo. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cheesepressers shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Strom.
