Scarborough Excels in Reno Win
|
The Reno Graybirds beat the Honolulu Waterspouts, 9-3, at Coconuts Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Greg Scarborough, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winner was Kelly Van Dyke in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Ben Ramey took the loss. Reno is now 89-67.
Aaron Thomas had a chance to do some damage in the bottom of the sixth. With Honolulu trailing 7-2, Honolulu had runners on 1st and 3rd. Thomas hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough. Honolulu would not finish the comeback.
