Tempest Pick Up 6-5 Win
|
Shane Reich was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Knoxville Running Rebels. The left fielder went 4-4 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the New Haven Tempest. New Haven reliever Mike Brannick picked up the win, upping his record to 7-5. Joe Hagley absorbed the loss. The save went to Edgar Zavala, his 27th this season.
Reich contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for New Haven in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Reich took a slider from Joe Hagley and stroked the single to left. His 37th hit of the season allowed the Tempest to leap in front, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Reich said after the game.
With the win, the Tempest have a record of 66-91.
