Victory Pushes Tempest Record to 17-3
|
The New Haven Tempest trumped the Saskatoon Platoon, 7-5, at Labatt Blue Field. New Haven center fielder Nick Morris was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. New Haven goes to 17-3 with the win.
In the top of the 7th, designated hitter Mike Atwell gave New Haven the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Tempest had been trailing 5-3, but the two-out home run off Saskatoon pitcher Josh Iacone changed that -- and New Haven went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Atwell after the game.
