Tempest Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
New Haven Tempest starter John Quinn turned in a top-notch performance against the Honolulu Waterspouts at Hartford Courant Center. The result was a win for the Tempest, 7-2. Quinn, now 5-0, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Losses have been few and far between for the Waterspouts so far this season. Their record drops to 15-5.
Caleb Zimmer, who is tied for 9th in the UL with a .430 on-base percentage, aided the New Haven cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Quinn told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
