Cheesepressers Lose to Mighty Cocks, 4-2
|
Curtis Desmond was instrumental in his team's 4-2 triumph over the Toledo Cheesepressers. The designated hitter belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Little Rock Mighty Cocks. Erik Betances got the win, improving to 4-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Tim Mahanes earned the save for Little Rock, his 5th.
Desmond had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 splitter from Marshall Pazar, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Mighty Cocks a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Desmond.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Desmond told the Little Rock Chronicle.
Losses have been rare for the Cheesepressers, who are now 17-6.
