Warlocks Get One-Run Win at Kalamazoo
|
Wichita Warlocks starter John Grubbs pitched a strong game against the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo at The Zoo, leading the Warlocks to a 6-5 win. Grubbs, now 2-3, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Jeremy Newcombe, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Hoyt Dowd, who was drafted in the three round of the 2021 draft, aided the Wichita cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Dowd told a Wichita Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
The Hullabaloo fall to 11-14 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2026 season.
