Graybirds Sneak Past Waterspouts, 4-3
|
Starting pitcher Dave Berry pitched well enough to help the Reno Graybirds beat the Honolulu Waterspouts by the score of 4-3. Reno reliever Rob Cumming picked up the win to move to 1-0. Israel Garcia suffered the loss. With the loss, Honolulu drops to 19-9.
Reno won the game in the bottom of the 15th inning. With two outs and Israel Garcia on the mound for Honolulu, third baseman Danny Whelan hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Graybirds fans to their feet.
"It was terrific getting this win," Whelan said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
