The New Haven Tempest defeated the Havana Knights, 5-1, in United League action at Flagship Field. Marcus Butts received player of the game honors. The 10-year veteran went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. The win brings the Tempest to 10-18, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.

Chris Phillips, who is rated as the 26th best prospect by BNN, aided the New Haven cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4 with a double.

"I'm proud to wear a New Haven jersey," Phillips told the New Haven Citizen. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
