The Savannah Wildcats knocked off the Honolulu Waterspouts, 5-2, at Coconuts Park. Ryan Adlington, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Savannah won. The third baseman was 4-4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was Elmer Hobbs, who threw 99 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits. With the win, Savannah pushes its record to 13-15.
Had Greg Harris not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Harris hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Wildcats.
"We did enough to win," said Harris.
