Butts Powers Tempest to 11-5 Win
|
The first-place New Haven Tempest took on the Corpus Christi Kingfishers at Flagship Field.
The New Haven Tempest trumped the Corpus Christi Kingfishers, 11-5, at Flagship Field. New Haven second baseman Marcus Butts was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. With the win over Corpus Christi, the Tempest improved to 79-64.
With New Haven leading 6-4 in the bottom of the third, Butts hit a sinker from Willie Aguirre for a grand slam home run. It was his 25th home run of the season and put the Tempest ahead, 10-4.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Butts.
