Toledo Makes It 7 Straight with 3-1 Win
|
In a tight game between the Toledo Cheesepressers and the Corpus Christi Kingfishers, pitcher T.J. Street was terrific on the mound. The Toledo right-hander was named the player of the game in Toledo's 3-1 win. Alvin Biter closed the door for Toledo, picking up his 8th save of the year. The loss drops Corpus Christi to 8-22.
Neither team could produce runs. So, Rich LaBelle's at-bat in the top of the eighth was critical. With one out, the Toledo first baseman hit a solo home run, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Toledo manager Matt Perrone said.
