Kingfishers Continue Skid Thanks to Roberts, Cheesepressers
|
The Toledo Cheesepressers defeated the Corpus Christi Kingfishers, 10-2, at Velveeta Field today. Leading the charge for Toledo was designated hitter John Roberts. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Jordan Morales, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Kingfishers to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The Cheesepressers keep rolling, raising their record to 3-1.
Roberts had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Cheesepressers went on to win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Toledo manager Matt Perrone.
