Hullabaloo Win 7-6 Walk-Off
|
Kalamazoo shortstop Jaheim Simmons made his presence felt in the 7-6 Hullabaloo triumph over the New Haven Tempest. Simmons was 4 for 7 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Pete Johnson in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Wally Woolsey took the loss. The third-place Hullabaloo now have a win-loss record of 17-17.
The Hullabaloo beat the Tempest in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Alvaro Verdusco produced in the bottom of the 15th. Batting against New Haven pitcher Wally Woolsey, Verdusco gave his team a 7-6 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring double.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Kalamazoo manager Jason Eberle.
