Getting an impressive start from Shane Miles, Corpus Christi beat New Haven by the score of 5-2. Miles got the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Miles allowed 1 earned run. Eric Longley earned his 6th save in 8 tries.

The Kingfishers beat the Tempest in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jay Rett produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against New Haven pitcher Matt Jacobson, Rett gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

Rett told a Corpus Christi Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

Corpus Christi now sits in last place in the United League Central Division at 17-22.
