Victory Pushes Tempest Record to 23-14
|
With first baseman Brett Jewett leading the charge, the New Haven Tempest defeated the Des Moines Pharaohs, 8-4, at Flagship Field. Jewett, who is tied for 3rd in the UL in total bases with 78, went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jason Balentine recorded his 6th save for New Haven. New Haven is now 23-14, 4 games up in the United League Atlantic Division.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Jewett, who is tied for 6th in the UL in home runs with 8, hit a 2-run double. It propelled the Tempest into the lead, 6-4.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Jewett.
