Thompson Lifts Graybirds to 9-4 Triumph
|
The Reno Graybirds bested the Honolulu Waterspouts by a score of 9-4, with first baseman Matt Thompson getting the main credit. On the day, Thompson was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Graybirds. Dan Cuff closed the game out for Reno, earning his 1st save. The Graybirds, at 19-22, sit in third place in the United League West Division.
In the top of the sixth inning, third baseman Danny Ramirez came through big-time for the Graybirds. With Reno leading 3-2, he belted a 3-run home run.
In comments to the Reno News, Ramirez admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
