The Tempest grabbed a win, 4-3, at Durex Field, overcoming a fine effort from Little Rock pitcher Erik Betances. Betances went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Jason Balentine got credit for the save for New Haven. It was his 7th of the year. New Haven is now 26-17, 3 games up in the United League Atlantic Division.
It could have been a different outcome for New Haven, had it not been for Chris Phillips, the two-time All-Star . Phillips contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put New Haven up, 4-3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said New Haven manager Brandon Eberle.
