Cheesepressers Clip Tempest in Tight Contest
|
The Toledo Cheesepressers grabbed a 5-4 win over the New Haven Tempest at Hartford Courant Center. Toledo second baseman Russ Cleaver was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Earning his 14th save of the year was Jayden Lamb. Toledo goes to 25-21. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.
Chris Borgen aided the Toledo cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cleaver told the Toledo Citizen.
