Vasquez Records Shutout Against Tempest
It wasn't easy but the Little Rock Mighty Cocks made it look that way.

Starter Eddie Vasquez shut out the New Haven Tempest despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Little Rock Mighty Cocks cruised to victory, 1-0. Vasquez allowed only 1 hit and rang up 8 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

For the season Vasquez has logged 9 wins and 1 loss and struck out 104 batters in 75.2 innings while compiling a 1.90 ERA.
