Corpus Christi Kingfishers starter Arturo Lopez turned in a sterling performance against the Toledo Cheesepressers, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Corpus Christi, now 1-5, is off to a slow start.

Evan Mendez, the 11 overall pick in the 2018 draft, helped out the Corpus Christi cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 1-4.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Toledo manager Matt Perrone. "The effort was great."
