Graybirds Best Hullabaloo in Pitching Duel
|
In a low-scoring game between the Reno Graybirds and the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo, pitcher Jason Carroll was masterful on the mound. The Reno right-hander was named the player of the game in Reno's 2-0 win. Carroll got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. Carroll allowed no earned runs. Dan Cuff locked down his 10th save.
The Graybirds beat the Hullabaloo in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Bobby Hamilton produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Kalamazoo pitcher Danny Levy, Hamilton gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Carroll told the Reno Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The Graybirds have an impressive 32-20 record.
