Kline Goes Off, But Waterspouts Win
|
Tucson catcher Nick Kline was sensational. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Honolulu beat the Fighting Beetles, 5-4. Kline was named the player of the game despite the loss. Ryan LaVoie got the win, improving to 4-5. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 6. Lorenzo Sierra earned the save for Honolulu, his 16th of the year.
Dennis Anderson, who is tied for 9th in the UL in bases on balls with 31, aided the Honolulu cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Tucson manager Ray Bannerman.
Honolulu's record now stands at 30-28, placing them third in the United League West Division.
