Tempest Solve Devil Bears, 6-5
|
The New Haven Tempest beat the Bangor Devil Bears, 6-5, at Hartford Courant Center. The Tempest got a fine performance from catcher Art Hale, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles. New Haven starter Ben Ramey was credited with the win after throwing 104 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. Cameron Pelletier was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 18 save opportunities.
Herman Cooke was a key contributor to the win for the Tempest. In the bottom of the sixth with no one out, the light-hitting third baseman stroked a home run to left-center. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hale told the New Haven Times.
Bangor's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
