Waterspouts Slip Past Albuquerque, 3-2
|
The Honolulu Waterspouts and Albuquerque Turkeys played an exciting game at Coconuts Park.
The Honolulu Waterspouts beat the Albuquerque Turkeys, 3-2, at Coconuts Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Colin Allen, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. Jason Rice got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings.
Had Jared McLaughlin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, McLaughlin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Waterspouts.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McLaughlin told the Honolulu Observer.
The Waterspouts now have a record of 26-34.
