Cheesepressers Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The game between Toledo and Knoxville is in the books, despite a little rain.
Knoxville got a terrific performance from first baseman Juan Flores, but it wasn't enough to beat the Toledo Cheesepressers. Toledo won the Smith and Wesson Field contest, 4-2. Flores was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Jason Hoose earned the save, his 4th, for the Cheesepressers.
The Cheesepressers beat the Running Rebels in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run John Roberts produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Knoxville pitcher Justin Stover, Roberts gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
Roberts called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
The Cheesepressers raised their record to 5-2.
