Devil Bears Say Adios to Manager Schmidt Saturday, October 10th, 2026 The winds of change have hit Bangor. Many saw the writing on the wall but it still came as sort of a surprise to the sports world when Matt Schmidt was fired earlier today. The team cited intellectual differences as a contributing factor to the decision but refused to go into details. All that is clear right now is that the hunt is on for a new manager. "Matt just wasn't the right guy for our team and our situation right now," said a team official speaking on condition of anonymity. The Devil Bears spokesman indicated that Schmidt had not been meeting goals set out for him by the team owner. Schmidt spoke with the press and said, "What's done is done. I'm just looking at my situation going forward, not backward. There's nothing I can change about the situation in Bangor. I just have to focus on what's to come next in my baseball future." |
