McFarlen Spins Masterpiece, No-Hits Knoxville
Lance McFarlen really did a number on the Knoxville Running Rebels at Velveeta Field today -- and that number was zero.

The Toledo Cheesepressers hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Cheesepressers to victory, 3-0.

"This is something special," McFarlen said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."

The left-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 9 and walked 0.

"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Knoxville manager Matt Stewart said when asked about the epic performance. "McFarlen was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."

This year McFarlen has posted a 15-9 mark in 31 starts and has a 3.00 ERA.
