In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The Corpus Christi Kingfishers powered past the Toledo Cheesepressers, 10-1, at Velveeta Field. Bob Kons went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4, to lead the charge. Kevin Klinger, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held Toledo to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts.

Kons contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Corpus Christi in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Kons took a fastball from Brad Ruggerio and stroked the home run to right-center. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Kingfishers to leap in front, 3-1.

Toledo manager Matt Perrone called the blowout loss "a real dud."

Corpus Christi is second in the United League East Division with a record of 78-76.
