Tempest Stay Hot, Beat Cheesepressers

The New Haven Tempest had no problem beating the Toledo Cheesepressers, 11-3, at Hartford Courant Center. Will Mackowski led the way. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for New Haven. Philip Lundholm was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. The second-place Cheesepressers have dropped 5 straight games.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the fourth inning. That's when shortstop Nick Bowen, who is tied for 4th in the UL in doubles with 22, drew a walk. The Tempest went on to win.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Bowen said.
