Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Ice Sox, 4-3
|
Anchorage Ice Sox first baseman Lou Cosby was the difference-maker at Cabela's Park today, winning player of the game honors as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the World Series. The Ice Sox took the 4-3 win over the New Haven Tempest to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Had Matt Hollifield not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hollifield hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Ice Sox.
"It feels good to get that win," said Hollifield. "Now it's on to the next one."
Game 6 is set to be played on Sunday, October 28th, 2018 at Hartford Courant Center. Slated to start are Ian Knight for the Ice Sox and Philip Lundholm for the Tempest.
