When the games really matter, the Saskatoon Platoon put on their best show, beating the Toledo Cheesepressers by a final score of 7-6 today. Jonathan Rogers earned player of the game honors, as he was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Saskatoon now leads Toledo 1-0 in the best-of-5 affair.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Bobby Aftanas came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Toledo pitcher Kyle Castillo, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Saskatoon on top, 7-6.

In postgame remarks, Aftanas simply said: "Here's to a great win!"

The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 7th, 2018 at Velveeta Field. Slated to start are Branden Peterson for Saskatoon and Wilber York for Toledo.
