Peterson Handcuffs Cheesepressers, Platoon Seize 2-0 Advantage in Division Series
|
The Saskatoon Platoon moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the Toledo Cheesepressers on the road at Velveeta Field by a score of 5-1. Platoon right-hander Branden Peterson was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Platoon a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Tim Penton, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Saskatoon cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Toledo manager Matt Perrone.
Game 3 is set to be played on Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at Labatt Blue Field. Slated to start are Lance McFarlen for the Cheesepressers and Brendan Powell for the Platoon.
