Phillips, Tempest Take Dramatic Game 2 for 2-0 Series Lead
|
When the games really matter, the New Haven Tempest put on their best show, beating the Savannah Pride by a final score of 5-4 today. Chris Phillips earned player of the game honors, as he was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. New Haven now leads Savannah 2-0 in the best-of-5 affair.
Brian Richardson was the walk-off hero for New Haven. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tempest catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Phillips.
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 at Haggar Pants Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Dan Hindes for New Haven and David Griffin for Savannah.
