Waterspouts Cut Down Corsairs, 8-1
|
The Honolulu Waterspouts and starting pitcher Andy Rodriguez stifled the Thunder Bay offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at Coconuts Park. Rodriguez, now 9-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 10, walking 4, and allowing no earned runs. Honolulu now sits at 51-28, while Thunder Bay falls to 46-33.
Tied up with the Corsairs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Waterspouts got a boost from catcher Colin Allen. With a runner on 1st, Allen saw a 0-2 forkball from Matt Fischer and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Honolulu on top, 1-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Rodriguez said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."
