3-1 Win by Cheesepressers Continues Hot Start
|
The Toledo Cheesepressers knocked off the Corpus Christi Kingfishers, 3-1, at Fallow Field. Steve Gambino, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Toledo won. The left fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Wilber York earned the win for Toledo. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. The Cheesepressers, now 9-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
In the top of the fifth inning, designated hitter Nate McCleary came through big-time for the Cheesepressers. With Toledo leading 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"The vibe's good," said Toledo manager Matt Perrone. "We've got to keep it going."
