Victory Pushes Cheesepressers Record to 66-36
|
The Toledo Cheesepressers picked up a win at Velveeta Field, knocking off the Little Rock Mighty Cocks, 6-1. Starting pitcher Chris Matula, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Matula, now 12-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Toledo goes to 66-36. The win puts them 15 games up in their division.
The Cheesepressers got a big at-bat from right fielder Phil Hubbard. For the game, Hubbard was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Toledo a 3-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Matula.
