Cheesepressers Jolt Kingfishers with Late Rally
|
Toledo withstood an impressive performance by Corpus Christi shortstop Michael Domingue to defeat the Kingfishers, 5-4, at Fallow Field. Domingue was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Jayden Lamb earned the save, his 1st, for the Cheesepressers. The Kingfishers fall to 4-8 and continue their wobbly start to the 2018 season.
Curt Nykanen made it 5-4 in favor of Toledo when he delivered a run-scoring double. It came with one out in the top of the ninth. The Cheesepressers went on to win.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Nykanen told the Toledo Gazette.
