Waterspouts Topple Cheesepressers with Late Rally
|
Honolulu Waterspouts starter Nazir Bruton was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Toledo Cheesepressers, 5-3. Bruton, now 8-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 3 earned runs. Honolulu, at 71-54, sits in second place in the United League West Division.
Had Kyle Jaynes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Jaynes hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Waterspouts.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Honolulu manager Claribette Del Rosario. "It's usually not just one thing."
