Victory Pushes Ice Sox Record to 76-51
|
The Anchorage Ice Sox topped the Toledo Cheesepressers, 6-3, in Patriot League action at Cabela's Park. The player of the game was Anchorage pitcher and St. George, Florida native Branden Peterson. Peterson went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 11-7. Ryan Elliott locked down his 26th save.
Had Jesse King not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, King hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Ice Sox.
King attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
Anchorage is now 76-51, Toledo 73-54.
