5-Hit Blitz by New Haven's Zimmer
|
Caleb Zimmer put on a hitting clinic today as the New Haven Tempest dumped the Toledo Cheesepressers 14-4 at Hartford Courant Center.
The New Haven third baseman made Toledo defenders earn their pay, lashing Toledo pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Zimmer said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Caleb Zimmer hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.
Currently Zimmer is batting .280 with 18 home runs and 73 RBIs.
