Cheesepressers Turn Back Corpus Christi, 3-1
|
Toledo Cheesepressers starter Wilber York turned in an exceptional performance against the Corpus Christi Kingfishers at Velveeta Field, resulting in a Toledo win, 3-1. The Cheesepressers, at 86-49, have a comfortable 17½-game lead in their division.
In the bottom of the first, Ray Velazquez hit a 2-run home run for Toledo. The 27th home run of the season for the Toledo center fielder put the Cheesepressers on top, 2-0.
"I found a nice groove out there," said York.
