Tight Tilt Goes to Cheesepressers, 4-3
|
Corpus Christi second baseman Chris Dossey was sensational. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toledo beat the Kingfishers, 4-3. Dossey was named the player of the game despite the loss. The first-place Cheesepressers, at 87-49, now lead their division by 18½ games.
In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter Nate McCleary gave Toledo the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Cheesepressers had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out home run off Corpus Christi pitcher Ken Taylor changed that -- and Toledo went on to win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Corpus Christi manager Matt Silva.
