Cheesepressers Subdue New Haven, 3-1

Velveeta Field was the site of a tense game between the New Haven Tempest and Toledo Cheesepressers.
In a tight battle between the Toledo Cheesepressers and the New Haven Tempest, pitcher Mike Chavis was in the zone. The Toledo left-hander was named the player of the game in Toledo's 3-1 win. Chavis went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-10. Jayden Lamb locked down his 16th save.
With the bases empty and one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, designated hitter Phil Hubbard delivered big for the Cheesepressers. Toledo was leading 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Chavis.
Toledo bumps their record to 81-74 with the win.
