Toledo Cheesepressers starter Chris Matula was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Des Moines Pharaohs, 4-2. Toledo reliever Doug Briere picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Keith Alley was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Robby Cappel, his 8th.

Josh Maynard went 1-3 for Toledo. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Keith Alley. It was his 5th RBI of the season.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Matula told the Toledo Gazette.

Toledo is off to a hot start at 15-2.
